T&Cs

I know, it’s tedious and boring, but it’s also super important to know what you’re agreeing to when you book a psychology appointment.

Session Policy

Having a session policy is neuroaffirming because it means that as a small business I can continue to provide psychology services without having to increase fees to those who do attend just to cover the cost of no-shows and late-cancellations. It also means that I am not put in the difficult and unwanted position of prioritising which need (reason/excuse) for non-attendance is worthy of a fee waiver or not.

Generally, if you have COVID-19 symptoms or are unwell, your session can be conducted via telehealth or phone.

Continuity of care is important. Bookings, cancellations and related policies are clearly set out by the clinic and you agree to the clinic policies when you make an appointment. Please email should you have any questions about fees and re-schedules. Access to sessions will be restricted if fees are owing and future appointments may be cancelled if fees remain outstanding.

Privacy & Confidentiality

We will go through Privacy, Confidentiality and Consent with you as part of booking your initial appointment. But so you know what’s coming…

I am committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of clients, their families/carers, and staff. I comply fully with relevant laws when it comes to collecting, holding, using, disclosing and sharing your personal information. I require your personal data to facilitate your client journey. At times your data will be shared with other organisations and third parties in order to provide you the best possible care.

I am bound ethically and legally to keep everything we talk about in a session Private and Confidential. However, there are some important limitations:

  • as required by law, such as complying with a subpoena by the court but also sharing information with your referring GP under a mental health care plan or the NDIA if you are funded by the NDIS
  • if there are significant safety concerns to yourself, myself or others

Consent

You will be asked by the clinic to sign a consent form agreeing to the terms and conditions of the clinic where you are accessing my psychology services. The consent form will relate to your session fees, parental consent (if relevant), use of AI and software, presence of animals at in-person sessions, and the video recording of sessions as well as Privacy & Confidentiality. EMDR and Assessment clients need to know that their sessions may be audio-video recorded for consulting and supervision purposes. If you have any questions relating to these forms, please discuss with me at your initial session. It is vital you understand your obligations as a client. Consent will be re-visited throughout the professional relationship.
