Therapy Session Fees

I believe in providing a psychology service that is accessible but need to balance this with the costs of running a Psychology business in Australia. Thus my fees are lower than the recommended APS/AAPi fee*. While I am always sympathetic to the financial difficulties of clients, it is important that you understand my practice policies. Thus, prior to engaging my services, you will be asked to consent to the costs of services and billing arrangements. Please email or ask prior to your session to discuss my session fees and policies.

As a Registered Psychologist my services may be claimed under a Medicare Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP/MHTP) for eligible individuals. My fees may also be covered for self-managed and some plan-managed NDIS participants (Item 15_043_0128_1_3).

Fees as at 1 July 2026

For Medicare and Private paying clients:

    • $252.99 per hour (50-min session + 10 min admin) for all clients, excluding Worker’s Compensation clients (see below). Initial sessions are charged at $380 to reflect the additional admin and often longer session time.
    • Payments will be managed automatically for all new clients via the credit card details you saved to Halaxy. Payments will be processed at the time of your appointment, and for eligible MHCP clients, your rebate will be processed automatically once your payment has cleared.
    • I am unable to process HICAPS so will email paid invoices to clients for lodgement with health funds.
    • All clients can add and maintain their own payment details via Halaxy’s patient portal.
    • All processing fees will be absorbed by VCP when they are processed and cleared on the day.

    NDIS Clients

    • $252.99 per billable hour, charged pro-rata. Psychology services funded by the NDIS need to be distinguished from mental health treatment.
    • All new Self- and Plan-Managed clients will need to pay their session and non face to face fees within 3 business days of receiving your services.
    • The NDIS published a recommendation in their price guide in 2025 to claim a 10-minute block or proportion of hours. I use the proportion of hours, as this is consistent with all client session fees and funding types.
    • NDIS line items separating direct-service, indirect (eg admin), telehealth, travel, and NDIA requested reports assists in compliance and transparency, and ensures that my NDIS funded clients can claim their supports correctly.

As a Psychologist, I provide supports that relate to registration group 0128. The main support item I charge under is: Capacity Building Improved Daily Living Skills (PACE Support category 15):

    • 15_054_0128_1_3 Therapy – Psychologist – Direct Service
    • 15_054_0128_1_3_TH Therapy – Psychologist – Telehealth

    • 15_054_0128_1_3_CA Cancellation

    • 15_054_0128_1_3_NF Non Face to Face services

    • 15_054_0128_1_3_PT Provider Travel

    • 15_054_0128_1_3_RR NDIA Requested Reports

You may be eligible for other CB items of support, however, as a Registered Psychologist I only provide NDIS funded services for the above capacity building supports. I do not provide supports for:

    • 10_054_0128_5_3 Employment Therapy – Psychologist – Direct Service
    • 07_004_0132_8_3 Specialist Support Coordination is delivered by an appropriately qualified and experienced practitioner to meet the individual needs of the participant’s circumstances such as a Psychologist. Specialist Support Coordination is reserved for addressing complex barriers impacting a participant’s ability to implement their plan and access appropriate supports.

For WorkCover Qld and WorkSafe Vic claimants:

    • Workers Compensation claimants in Qld and Vic will be charged the current published WorkCover Qld rates $267 per approved session: Mental Health Costs (current 1 Aug 2025) This means for WorkSafe Vic clients, there is an out of pocket gap fee.
    • Payments will be managed automatically for all new clients via the credit card details you saved to Halaxy. Payments will be processed at the time of your appointment, and
    • WorkCover claimants will be emailed a copy of their paid invoices for lodgement.

Fees will next be reviewed again, next year, with an expected increase in July 2026. Any changes will be updated on the website with the date from which they will take effect.

Please note: I do not provide Bulk Billing services.

    * The Australian Psychological Society and AAPi National Schedule of Recommended Fees 2025-2026 has the standard 50-minute consultation fee at $330. This is a recommendation only. My fees are currently below this rate, and rely on a strict session policy to remain viable to offer services below this recommended rate.

Fees listed below apply to new assessment clients. I provide Paediatric (ages 4-17) and Adult (18+) assessment services:

All assessments require a long (75-90min) initial appointment prior to commencing the assessment process. The fee for the initial session is $380. This fee is considered separate from the assessment types and fees below.

In some cases, a medicare or private health insurance rebate may be applicable depending on your referral type. This initial session fee is payable to confirm your appointment time and will incur a 100% session fee for cancellations or reschedules of less than 2 business days’ notice. (Assessments are usually booked on Tuesdays, which means you will need to cancel by the Thursday afternoon).

    Initial Session

During the initial session you will be asked lots of questions. This is to get to know you, and understand what is the most appropriate assessment type for your needs right now. Occasionally, there may be instances where additional sessions are needed to complete your assessment (for example, clients with complex physical or mental health histories that require more in-depth querying in order to rule-in and rule-out differential diagnoses). This is usually able to be advised in your first session if this is required for you. Important: If an assessment or component is not clinically necessary, I will not proceed with it. This ensures all assessments stay focused and relevant to your needs.

    Assessment Types

Autism – answers the question Am I Autistic? Includes an ADHD screener. An autism assessment includes up to 4-5 hours of assessment appointments, completion of online questionnaires, feedback and your report.  Includes an ADHD screener, diagnostic summary (the summary of the assessment process and test results and any formal diagnoses made). Please note that I do not use the ADOS for Autism assessments, if this is being requested please direct your referring practitioner to this academic resource

ADHD – You might choose this assessment if you are interested in understanding challenges in your life that relate to possible traits of ADHD. For adults, (anyone age 18+, but really 16+) I would recommend you book in to see your GP (if you are based in Queensland) to discuss if they prefer a Psychiatrist or Psychologist ADHD assessment if you are only seeking an ADHD assessment to explore medication. Similarly, if you are a parent interested in exploring medication options for your child, I recommend you consider asking your GP for a referral to a paediatrician as soon as possible (wait times can be several months). However, if you wish to understand your unique profile and neurotype, a Psychologist assessment may be the most suitable option for you.

Autism + ADHD – answers the question Am I neurodivergent? You might choose this assessment if you are unsure about where your neurotype sits. This assessment is a combination of the above two and includes multi-informant questionnaires and diagnostic summary report.

I need a Cognitive Assessment and/or Learning and Academic Assessment. I conduct WISC-V and WIAT-III (ANZ) assessments in person to individuals ages 8+ and WAIS-V for ages 16+.

Cognitive Functioning – You may choose this assessment type if you are interested in understanding your personal strengths and weaknesses that relate to how you think and process information, and to support accessing accomodations at school or work. This assessment is offered as a standalone assessment or as an add-on to the above Autism, ADHD, and ND psychological assessments.  Fees for a Cognitive Assessment are set at $2100 (paid in three instalments of $700 if a payment plan is required). The fee to add a Cognitive Assessment (WISC or WAIS only) to an ND assessment is an additional $780.

Learning – You might choose this assessment type if you want to understand the challenges in your life that relate to a possible Specific Learning Disorder (such as difficulty with reading, writing, or mathematics). This assessment is offered in combination with a Cognitive Assessment or as an add-on (with the Cognitive Assessment) to the above Autism, ADHD, and ND/psychological assessments.  Fees for an Academic Assessment are $2800 (paid in four instalments of if a payment plan is required). As part of your detailed report, you’ll receive an understanding of your unique strengths and differences with examples of how these factors impact your daily life, you will also be provided practical recommendations for supports and adjustments and if relevant recommendations for Individual Learning Plans or PLPs for school aged students. The fee to add both Cognitive and Learning Assessments (WISC or WAIS and WIAT) to an ND assessment is an additional $1460.

Functional Capacity –  I only provide this assessment to clients who are considering an application to the NDIS and require an NDIS report from a Clinical Psychologist. This assessment is provided to support an existing or second opinion diagnosis of Autism or psychosocial disability (mental health condition) and you require evidence of the impact of your disability and supports. The fee for an FCA is $1870.

    Fee Options

(Option 1) Identification only, $1565 diagnostic service. Answers the question: Am I Autistic? or Am I an ADHDer? and allows me to make a clinical decision to answer confidently either yes or no. You get a brief 1-2 page summary report without individual test results.

(Option 2) Extended report, $2440 diagnostic service and neuro-affirming write-up of relevant background information, with individual test results, evidence from clinical interviews, any formal diagnosis made and recommendations. Answers the question Am I neurodivergent? exploring Autistic, ADHD and other traits. (Add Cog $780, Add Cog & Learning $1460)

(Option 3) I would also like to apply to the NDIS, $2650 diagnostic service and functional capacity assessment to determine how you are impaired by your eligible disability or disabilities and what reasonable and necessary supports do you need that can appropriately be funded by the NDIS. It takes many many hours to write these reports, and therefore the fee can be very pricey for the client. Alternatively, you can combine an Option 2 extended report with a second clinician report (such as an OT assessed functional capacity report, or Paediatrician or Psychiatrist FCA).

Important information if you are thinking of applying to the NDIS:

    (1) To apply, email your completed Access Request Form to your Local Area Coordinator (LAC). The LAC will submit your application.

You’ll then have a meeting with your LAC to create an optional Community Connections Plan, and you’re welcome to bring a support person. The Community Connections Plan is NOT an NDIS funded plan, it is a document that identifies mainstream (eg Medicare/Education Qld), and community (eg Oxenford community hub, religious groups) supports available to you. The Community Connections Plan is a document created by the LAC.

If you are deemed eligible, a Planner will review your Community Connections plan about two months later and contact you for a planning meeting to discuss funding. Sometimes the planning meeting happens as the second part of your community connections plan meeting. This plan implementation meeting will help you understand and activate your plan. This meeting will be with a Planner for complex cases or the LAC for simpler ones.

    (2) You may need to have an OT conduct a functional capacity assessment and demonstrate why psychology is “reasonable and necessary” such as showing psychological barriers to functional capacity if you are hoping to have Psychology supports included as funded therapy in your NDIS Plan. Then you (the participant) or LAC or Support Coordinator will need to submit a “change of circumstances”, which can take 6 months+

    (3) The NDIS expects the treating professional who provides evidence of your disability to have treated you for at least six (6) months. For example, for an Autism diagnosis as a “primary disability” a single clinician diagnosis by a Clinical Psychologist using the DSM-5-TR and one of three daily life assessment tools (Vineland, WHODAS or PEDI-CAT) is preferred.

(Option 4) Second opinion or Autism ‘level’ update, $900. Perhaps you already have had an Autism assessment and disagree with the outcome? Perhaps you have a formal diagnosis but the report does not meet the evidence of impairment criteria and support needs to access the NDIS.  This service is only available where you can provide a copy of a medical practitioner / psychology report and consent is provided for Victoria Clark to communicate with and/or obtain assessment materials from the previous service provider(s).

(Option 5) I need the lot, $3900 – Am I neurodivergent? What is my cognitive profile? Do I have a learning difference? This is a comprehensive assessment process that involves up to 4-5 hours of clinical interviews, questionnaires for yourself and others (eg parents/colleagues/teachers), and 2-4 hours of in person testing using the WISC-V or WAIS-V and WIAT-III. Finally it is all written up in to a comprehensive report with recommendations and next steps for you. (If you like math, this is Option 2 + Cog & Learning addon fee)

Please note, for all assessments, payment in full is required before your report is released to you. Your report with all results, diagnoses (where applicable), and tailored recommendations, is provided to you in a one-hour feedback session appointment.
